Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs about our solar panel cleaning services

  • How often should I clean my solar panels?

It is recommended to clean your solar panels at least once or twice a year to ensure optimal performance. However, the frequency may vary depending on your location and environmental factors such as dust, pollen, and bird droppings.

  • Can I clean my solar panels myself?

It is not advisable to clean your own solar panels. Specialist purified water and solar cleaning brushes used by professional solar panel cleaners are required to clean solar panels effectively. This will prevent damage, particularly micro cracks and scratches that may occur with improper cleaning methods at home. There is also the risk of electric shock, falls from height and invalidating your warranty. Hiring a professional solar panel cleaner will result in a professional cleaning outcome and give you peace of mind that it is carried out safely and efficiently.

  • Do you offer a lichen removal service?

Yes, we provide a specialist lichen removal service. Lichen on solar panels is a significant issue as it hinders sunlight from reaching the cells, thereby reducing the panels' efficiency and potentially causing many issues!

At Solar Panel Cleaning Services Ltd we are dedicated to assisting you in managing the presence and impact of lichen on your solar energy system.

  • Will you clean our solar panels with purified water?

Manufacturers don’t recommend the use of harmful chemicals or detergents to clean solar panels. However, they do advise regular solar panel cleaning using purified water, especially before the onset of summer and winter. Manufacturers also state that regular solar panel cleaning will preserve their limited warranty and help to maintain the optimum output performance of the solar panels.

Here at Solar Panel Cleaning Services Ltd, we use purified water to clean your solar panels. Our water has had the minerals removed using two distinct processes. The first is reverse osmosis, which is then followed by do-ionisation to leave behind purified water. Rest assured, your solar panels are in safe hands with Solar Panel Cleaning Services Ltd.
